•$310.00/FREE to Registered VTAC Clients (Includes two nights’ double occupancy room at Lindenwood Retreat and Conference Center and meals Friday evening through Sunday lunch. All experience materials are included.)
When we engage with our creative self to produce an artistic experience for everyone to enjoy we begin to unleash a whole host of abilities we didn’t know were present.
The Story Inside is a weekend excursion into the most elementary forms of creativity. No need to worry about trying to be a great artist, instead just sink into each exercise prepared to laugh and enjoy the experience, as step by step your story comes into view. Along the way you’ll color with crayons, shape clay, and articulate with gestures and miming, until at last your story comes into view. It’s effortless; in fact, participants are instructed “not to think,” and just enjoy each exercise as they experience it.
This method has proven useful for developing personal presentation skills, gaining greater facility with public speaking, deepening the understanding of the relationship between self and soul, and realizing that artistic expression is essential to your health and that of the community.
The Story Inside retreat is funded in part by a grant from the Marshall County Community Foundation.

The act of making a doll can take a person through a process of creative imagination, growth and healing. This retreat focuses on the personal growth and healing aspects of doll-making. The Doll-making Circle is a creative process based on the organizing principle of the Native American medicine wheel – using the four directions and four elements to focus on intention and inspiration; creative play; healing and wisdom. Participants will be invited and encouraged to explore their range of perceptions through the doll they will create; and in doing so will reach a deeper understanding of themselves and their doll-making process. On day four participants will experience a witnessing and blessing of the dolls ceremony. Participants will be expected to bring a journal and pictures of their own face, their mother’s face, grandmother’s face and the faces of any other important women in their lives. Participants will be invited to play with creative energies through drawing and writing.
